Christmas is our second favorite holiday. JT is working on creating a giant Christmas village. This year, we spread it out along the top of our entertainment center. It's so cute!! Most of the things light up and cast a very christmas-y glow.

I have to admit that we put up our tree on Thanksgiving night. I love it!! Although it is a pre-lit fake one, thats a touch too bright for our small apartment but hey. We got a great deal and didn't have to fuss with the lights.
From a young age, I have loved the song, I want a hippopotamus for christmas. Last Year my mom bought me this cute little guy. I had him sitting under the tree, but in a stroke of genius, JT sat him in the tree and put out our nativity under the tree instead.
Here are the lyrics-
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
Don't want a doll, no dinky Tinker Toy
I want a hippopotamus to play with and enjoy
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
I don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?
He won't have to use our dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door, that's the easy thing to do
I can see me now on Christmas morning, creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise when I open up my eyes
To see a hippo hero standing there
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, no rhinoceroses
I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too
Mom says the hippo would eat me up, but then
Teacher says a hippo is a vegeterian
There's lots of room for him in our two-car garage
I'd feed him there and wash him there and give him his massage
I can see me now on Christmas morning, creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprise when I open up my eyes
To see a hippo hero standing there
I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles or rhinoceroseses
I only like hippopotamuseses
And hippopotamuses like me too!
There are tons of videos for this song on youtube if you wanna check it out!
I just love it!

I've been reading The Kingdom and The Crown Series by Gerald Lund. And it has caused me to ponder and think about my Savior. I heard a song today that had a great message. Christ was given to the world as a gift of love from our Father in Heaven. And what an amazing gift!! No one could have done what Christ did for us. I've also been pondering the symbolism is his names. The Lamb of God, Councilor, Prince of Peace, Messiah, Emmanuel and Savior. I am awestruck by all that he is. I love him and am eternally grateful for him and the gifts he gives, that no one else could. Merry Christmas to all of you, and may we all remember the reason for our season.
